Today we took a field trip to Papago Park in Phoenix Arizona. It’s about a 30 minute drive from where we’re staying with friends in Mesa. Fiona was very brave and walked up to the Hole in the Rock and back down again. After we ate lunch, Fiona got to feed the birds in the pond. We went through a whole loaf of bread. She and Virgie then explored the outskirts of the pond.

I wish I could have been with you! It looks like so much fun. Hole in the Rock looks like it could be at Arches National Park in Utah. I do not know what kind of duck that is 🙁
Hi Fiona! Looks like a great trip!
My class studied birds last year, and we worked with the Cornell Ornithology Lab to do some counting and tracking. They are a great resource, and I’m pretty sure that the duck is a ring-necked duck… but check this http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Ring-necked_Duck/id and see if you agree! (It could be a scaup too)
I’ll show the pictures to the class tomorrow and see what they think -though they are becoming experts on Fish this year and may be of no help.
I think the other picture is of a goose pair… maybe mother goose herself and a friend? 🙂
Under Nonsense is a link to “Don`t go there!” Unless you have an account on this blog. 🙂 DESSERT! 🙁 🙁 🙁 Ah,um- MUST EAT DESSERT! 🙁 Bye. 🙂
